Even as I celebrate Obama's win and marvel at how far we have come as a country since the days of Jim Crow laws, I am saddened by the successful passage in several states of ballot measures that restrict the civil liberties of a minority group.
Two steps forward, one step back.

I have been so wrapped up in other things that I haven't visited other blogs (except those of my kids) for some time. I enjoy your comments (and those of your children :). I also like your book list and plan to look into some of the ones I haven't read yet!

I wrote about the raccoons in my journal and told Michael to tell IM, but the other day we had THREE giant raccoons crawl out of the bushes and stroll up the street. I live in an urban area. This was beyond awesome.
